Copied of the back of a 200g bar of Cadbury's salmonela laced fruit and nut.

Enjoying chocolate as part of a balanced lifestyle can play a part in making people feel calmer, more relaxed and generally happier. Chocolate gives us an emotional boost, which triggers similar 'good feelings' to thise we experience whn listening to music, going on holiday, or being in love!

Discuss..

I was feeling particularly down last night, so went out on the scavenge at about 10:30. Unable to find any Green and Blacks or other nice dark chocolate, I instead plumped for a salmonela bar (my first taste of cadburys in about two years). Instantly after the first square, I remembered how disgusting it is.

The text on the back of the wrapper is probably correct; but it doesn't apply to cadburys choclate, which doesn't even contain enough cocoa to be properly called chocolate.

Still, it did make me feel better. Maybe I should have listened to music instead....

More to the point... if you did want to write about the health benefits of your product, couldn't you find anything better than: 'Its like listening to music and falling in love'.

Don't diss the Cadbury by ambrosen (2.00 / 0) #1 Fri Mar 23, 2007 at 06:27:53 AM EST
They had a prompt and efficient recall of the contaminated chocolate, unlike e.g. Sara Lee, who waited until 18 people had died in the US before mentioning that some of their low temperature bacterial swab cultures were growing a bit much.

20-30% cocoa solids is fine for snacking rather than savouring, anyway. It's a different product and idea, anyway. It's the vegetable fat that shouldn't be there. Also, Green and Blacks is a Cadbury's subsidiary, and set up for similarly philanthropic reasons a century later.

Not to say that the back of the pack's not full of shite though, or indeed that large bars of mass market chocolate are for anyone but the lonely woman, either.

Cocoa solid percentage is all very well by R Mutt (2.00 / 0) #2 Fri Mar 23, 2007 at 06:40:32 AM EST
But what brand of chocolate really defines you as a person?

Not bad for mass market. Ever try a Hershey bar, yuck...

cadburys ain't chocolate by Merekat (2.00 / 0) #4 Fri Mar 23, 2007 at 06:55:08 AM EST
It is a candy bar.

I'm looking forward to even own-brand supermarket chocolate being good in Switzerland.

Do they do dark chocolate? by ambrosen (2.00 / 0) #6 Fri Mar 23, 2007 at 08:33:04 AM EST
I am an ignoramus in such matters, but aren't they milk only types?

I've actually bought a bar of Lindt 72% in the last week, so really, duh!

I actually prefer the Migros (supermarket brand) 85% and 100% to the Lindt equivalents.

Complaining about the cocoa content of Cadbury's chocolate is a bit like complaining about breakfast sausages not being 100% meat.  Sometimes the "lower quality" option just fits better.

Green 'n' Blacks is dandy after dinner with some wine, but if you want something to munch on in copious quantity then give me Dairy Milk all the way.

By the way, pub's on tonight.  Stag (or whatever it's called - where we went last week) at some time shortly after 5.

copius quantity by Merekat (2.00 / 0) #12 Fri Mar 23, 2007 at 09:28:30 AM EST
I just can't eat copious quantity of chocolate. For the same comfort food requirement, I'd prefer to resort to something involving melted cheese.
